KUALA LUMPUR: Maybank, which has been appointed as the National Higher Education Fund Corporation’’s (PTPTN) panel bank, is targeting to serve some 60,000 new undergraduates by 2018.

Under this arrangement, Maybank will be able to provide PTPTN loan disbursement services to students studying in both public and private universities, it said in a statement here.

The bank currently has secured five participating universities under the PTPTN appointment, which will see it serving over 6,000 students.

Maybank is confident that its PTPTN loan disbursement platform offering would gain traction this year, given the increasing acceptance by universities of the comprehensive services it offers to both the institutions, as well as their student population, said Head of Community Financial Services Malaysia Datuk Hamirullah Boorhan.

The bank has also launched its seventh campus lounge, Maybank@UTP lounge, an interactive financial centre to cater to the undergraduate and campus community.

The lounge, designed specifically for Gen Z and millennial students at university campuses, is part of Maybank’’s initiatives to expose the younger generation to the availability of seamless banking facilities, focusing on accessibility and convenience to fulfill their financial needs. - Bernama
