KUALA LUMPUR: PT Indonesia AirAsia (IAA) will provide ground-handling services for AirAsia X Bhd (AAX) in Indonesia under an agreement signed on Monday.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, AAX said the IATA standard ground handling agreement was valid for a one-year period ending Feb 28, 2018.

The long-haul, low-cost affiliate of the AirAsia group said the contract price of RM780,000 was estimated based on the ground-handling costs per turnaround in the respective Indonesian stations operated by IAA in accordance with the arrangement.

IAA is deemed to be a related party to AAX because AirAsia Bhd has an indirect 49% interest in IAA and AirAsia Bhd directors and major shareholders Datuk Kamarudin Meranun and Tan Sri Tony Fernandes are also the directors and major shareholders in AAX.

In addition, Datuk Fam Lee Ee is a director in both AirAsia Bhd and AAX.
