KUALA LUMPUR: AWC Bhd’s air-conditioning and building automation unit M&C Engineering and Trading Sdn Bhd will supply, install and maintain the fire protection system for five blocks at the Government Administrative Centre in Putrajaya for RM14.65mil.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Monday, the integrated facility management services group said Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd had appointed the subsidiary as a sub-contractor for the supply, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning, and maintenance of fire protection services.

The blocks where M&C will undertake the fire protection services work, are currently being constructed on 16 acres (i.e. half of the blocks in Parcel F). These blocks will house the Civil Service Commission, the Public Private Partnership Unit (Ukas), the Statistics Department as well as certain shared facilities including the cafeteria and multi-purpose hall.

M&C expects to complete the job by July 18, 2018.

In March last year the Government reappointed AWC’s unit Ambang Wira Sdn Bhd to provide building maintenance and support service for Federal Government buildings and future contract buildings in Sarawak and the Southern Zone (Malacca, Negri Sembilan and Johor) for a 10-year concession period (January 2016 to December 2025) for RM555mil in fees.

The original concession was from June 1, 1998 till May 31, 2008, but it was subsequently extended to March 7, 2016.

Ambang Wira is also to provide Critical Asset Refurbishment Programme (CARP) for the government buildings.

The renewed concession and CARP were projected to generate total revenue of about RM700mil over the concession period.
