Abdul Jalil named NSTP’s new CEO

PETALING JAYA: Media Prima Bhd has appointed Datuk Abdul Jalil Abdul Hamid (pic) its new chief executive officer (CEO) of The New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd (NSTP), effective March 1.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Friday, Media Prima said its current CEO, Datuk Mohammad Azlan Abdullah, was resigning effective Feb 28.

NSTP is a subsidiary of Media Prima.

Abdul Jalil, who will report to the group managing director of Media Prima, will focus on strengthening the core business of NSTP.

He will also focus on improving the performance of the company in line with Media Prima’s long-term growth strategies.

Media Prima also appointed Mohamad Ariff Ibrahim as NSTP’s executive director, effective March 1. 

Mohamad Ariff, who remains as the group financial officer of Media Prima, will report to Abdul Jalil.

Meanwhile, Yushaimi Maulud Yahaya has been promoted to group editor of New Straits Times, and will manage the overall operations of the country’s oldest English daily.
