PNB appoints Zarinah, Awang Adek, Yaakub and Soedirman as new board members


KUALA LUMPUR: Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) has appointed Tan Sri Zarinah Anwar, Datuk Dr. Awang Adek Hussin, Datuk Dr. Mohd Yaakub Johari and Soedirman  Aini as new members of the board of directors.

PNB said in a statement the appointments were to replace board members who retired on Dec 31, 2016.

They succeed the foregoing board members namely Tan Sri Amar Bujang Mohammed Bujang Mohammed Nor, Tan Sri Asmat Kamaluddin and Tan Sri Ainum Mohamed Saaid, who retired on Dec 31, 2016.

PNB also announced the appointments of Professor Datuk Dr. Noor Azlan Ghazali, Datuk Dr. Nik Norzrul Thani Nik Hassan Thani and Datuk Dr. Nik Ramlah Mahmood as the new members of the board of directors of Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd (ASNB). 

They succeed Tan Sri Md. Desa Pachi, Tan Sri Dr. Wan Mohd. Zahid Mohd. Noordin and Tan Sri Ainum Mohamed Saaid, who similarly retired on Dec 31, 2016.

The new appointments would be effective once the processing of the documents was completed, it said.

Group chairman of PNB Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar said he was delighted to welcome the new members to its board. 

“Their extensive experience in various fields of economy, finance and investment would contribute greatly to the already strong foundation laid by the previous Board members of PNB and ASNB. 

“I am confident that their presence would spur PNB further thus achieving our vision to be a distinctive world class investment house,” he said.

Wahid also thanked the former board members – Tan Sri Amar Bujang, Tan Sri Asmat, Tan Sri Ainum, Tan Sri Md. Desa and Tan Sri Dr. Wan Mohd. Zahid for their dedication and immense contributions towards the remarkable growth of the PNB Group. 

“Each one of them has served PNB Group for more than 10 years. Certainly, without their sacrifices and wisdom over the years, PNB would not have been where it is presently. Thank you so much on behalf of PNB and our 12.8 million unit holders”, he added.
