SINGAPORE: A unit of TPG Telecom Ltd won the bid to hold Singapore’s fourth mobile-phone licence, bringing a new entrant into the market as the government seeks to boost competition.
The Australian carrier won the spectrum auction for new entrants with a bid of S$105mil (US$74mil), the Info-communications Media Development Authority said in a statement yesterday in Singapore. The new spectrum rights are expected to start April 1, 2017 at the earliest, the agency said.
