Koh Kin Lip emerges as Malaysian Genomics Resource shareholder


KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Koh Kin Lip has emerged as a substantial shareholder in Malaysian Genomics Resource Centre Bhd with a 5.024% stake.

A filing with Bursa Malaysia on Thursday the stake, comprising of 5.20 million shares, was placed out to him on Nov 4. The share price closed at 47 sen on that day.

Koh, 67, is a senior independent non-executive director of IOI Properties Bhd. He was appointed to the board on Jan 2, 2016.

He is also a non-independent non-executive Director of NPC Resources Bhd, independent non-executive director of Daya Materials Bhd and Cocoaland Holdings Bhd. He is also a member of the management committee of Red Sena Bhd.

Genomics Resource Centre provides genome sequencing services to obtain the sequence of the entire genome from any eukaryotic or prokaryotic organism. This includes plant, animal, microbial and human genomes. 

It also provides genetic screening services called Dtect to screen for genetic markers in an individual’s DNA. These genetic markers are medically linked with an increased risk of developing diseases such as cancer, diabetes, gout, and cardiovascular diseases, among others.
