Khor: Over the past four years, demand for our convention centre facilities has been high.

SHAH ALAM: SP Setia Bhd has more than doubled the size of its Setia City Convention Centre in Setia Alam to cater to the growing demand for exhibition facilities in the area.

“Over the past four years, demand for our convention centre facilities has been high. We have hosted more than 1,600 events spanning the spectrum of banquets such as weddings and corporate dinners, concerts, exhibitions, meetings and special events such as graduation ceremonies and motor industry roadshows,” SP Setia president and CEO Datuk Khor Chap Jen said.

He said that while the existing convention centre catered to ballroom events and smaller meetings, the new extension would be able to cater for large-scale events such as exhibitions, motoring road shows and concerts with total parking bays of 2,000.

To date, Setia City Convention Centre has received about 50 forward bookings for 2017.

The expanded facilities are called Setia City Convention Hall 1 & 2 with a total size of 11,800 sq m and is connected to the main convention centre with a covered walkway.

The hall extension will be able to accommodate up to 350 booths for exhibitions, 4,000 people in banquet-style seating and 8,000 people in theatre-style arrangement.
