Government removes anti-dumping duty on PET from Thailand

KUALA LUMPUR: The Government has terminated the anti-dumping duty imposed on the imports of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) originating in or exported from Thailand.

The International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) said in a statement that  the Government had on April 20 initiated an administrative review (expiry) investigation concerning the duties imposed on imports of PET originating in or exported from Thailand based on a petition filed by PET resin maker MPI Polyester Industries Sdn Bhd.

“The Government of Malaysia based on information gathered during the review has decided to terminate the anti-dumping duty,” it said.

On its website, Miti said the Government felt the termination of the anti-dumping duty would not likely lead to a continuation or recurrence of dumping and injury to the domestic industry.
