Duke to sell Brazilian assets to China Three Gorges


NEW YORK: Duke Energy Corp. said it has reached an agreement to sell its holdings in Brazil to China Three Gorges Corp for about US$1.2bil in cash and the assumption of debt.

Proceeds from the deal are expected to be used to reduce Duke Energy holding company debt, Duke said in a statement. Closing is expected in two to four months, pending regulatory approval.
