‘Fresh feel and look’ uniforms for Firefly staff

KUALA LUMPUR: Short-haul airline Firefly unveiled new uniforms for its staff, the second ever change since its first update in 2013.

Its chief executive officer Ignatius Ong said the uniform’s evolution reflects how the airline had matured and progressed since it was established in 2007.

“The fresh feel and look will be a boost for our cabin crew and ground operations staff to be more confident, comfortable and approachable when performing their duties to serve our passengers”, he said, during the launch at Zebra Square, here yesterday.

A seven member committee – made up of Firefly staff including Ong – went through various options for patterns, material, texture and colours for the cabin crew and ground operations staff uniform before finalising their choice in July 2016.

“After nine years, this campaign is a great refresher for the Firefly brand to bring it top of mind and place its image as a brand that is fun, approachable and full of style,” he said.

The event also saw the launch of Firefly’s official music video “Like Fireflies” composed by Estranged Band, and sang by Ning Baizura, Fazura and Taufik Batisah under the Universal Music Malaysia label.

The celebrities also performed the song live at the launch.

“The music video which carries Firefly’s key elements such as togetherness, dreams, community, convenience, fun, lifestyle, business and holiday is close to our hearts as a Firefly family and is a dream come true for us,” said Ong.

In conjunction with the launch of the new uniform, Firefly also announced the winners of its “Live The High Life with Firefly” contest.

The winners were given a four-day-three-night holiday, with Nurul Dafila Nor Azlizan going to Johor Bahru, Rosliza Mohammad to Singapore and Chong June Ling to Langkawi.

They would be also spending their holidays with a celebrity companion: Ning, Fazura and Taufik, respectively.

The launch was attended by around 250 guests, including Tourism Malaysia director-general Datuk Seri Mirza Mohammad Taiyab, Universal Music managing director Kenny Ong and EON Automart Sdn Bhd COO Shamsul Haq.
