PETALING JAYA: Local offshore marine services specialist and logistics provider Satumarin Sdn Bhd has inked a deal with Singapore’s Marine Nexus Pte Ltd to offer its maritime expertise to Marine Nexus’s online shipping platform’s global clients.
According to a statement released by Satumarin, the company said teaming up with Marine Nexus was a strategic move to leverage on its (Marine Nexus) users, who are mainly vessel providers and procurers and connect to services offered by Satumarin.
The memorandum of understanding, which took place on Sept 28, 2016, was witnessed by Petronas president and group chief executive officer Datuk Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin and industry peers during the Malaysia Oil and Gas Services Exhibition and Conference 2016.
Satumarin said the partnership heralded a new chapter in its illustrious background as it will gain access to Marine Nexus’ over 400 global clients via the online platform.
“As we begin this journey, we hope that with the support and input from the industry, we can start to build a platform that leverages the power of the internet to help everyone, be it owners or brokers or buyers or charterers, as it would reduce their prospecting costs through this difficult times.
“With our platform, we will help make marketing more targeted, more efficient and more effective, helping shipping businesses become more sustainable into the future,” Marine Nexus chief executive officer Eric Chean said in the statement.
Recognised as one of the 100 companies in the 7th SME 100 Fast Moving Companies Award 2015 and awarded by SME Corp a rating of five-star under SME Competitiveness Rating for Enhancement in 2016, Satumarin undertakes surveys, inspections and audits of vessels and facilities worldwide since its incorporation in 2010.
The firm is looking to expand into Brunei, Indonesia and Myanmar.
