Trading ideas: Jaks Resources, Gamuda, OCK, Wah Seong, MISC

KUALA LUMPUR: Jaks Resources, Gamuda, OCK, Wah Seong and MISC could see trading interest on Friday after their corporate announcements, says JF Apex Research.

It said Jaks secured a RM508.5mil contract under the Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Expressway (SUKE) project.

Gamuda’s SRS Consortium Sdn Bhd has accepted an extension of a letter of award (LoA) from the Penang state government appointing it as the project delivery partner for the Penang Transport Master Plan (PTMP).

SRS Consortium is 60:20:20 joint venture between Gamuda, Loh Phoy Yen Holdings Sdn Bhd and Ideal Property Development Sdn Bhd.

OCK plans to acquire Southeast Asia Telecommunications Holdings Pte Ltd for US$50mil (RM203.8mil).

OCK’s acquisition is to expand into the construction and leasing of telecommunication towers and infrastructure to mobile network operators in Vietnam that are project driven and backed by long-term lease rentals ranging from five to 10 years.

As for Wah Seong, it bagged a US$41.2mil (RM166.7mil) subcontract from Schneider Electric France SAS to design and build seven pre-fabricated area sub-stations for a project in Kazakhstan.

MISC reported an 80% on-year rise in 2QFY16 net profit, mainly on a substantial gain from the acquisition of subsidiaries.

Tien Wah Press’s 2QFY16 net profit grew 11.3% on-year, boosted by lower depreciation charge amid lower revenue.

Pentamaster's 2QFY16 net profit doubled to RM6.66mil, thanks to higher revenue and better product mix.

Overnight on Wall Street, US markets closed flat overnight despite gains in oil prices as investors await Friday’s employment data.

Earlier, European stocks rose after Bank of England cut interest rate to a record low of 0.25%.

At Bursa Malaysia, the FBM KLCI rose 6.79 points to close at 1,655.29.

“Following the mixed performance in the US and Europe, the FBM KLCI could continue to hover above the support of 1,650,” it said.
