MAS orders RM22b jets

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia Airlines Bhd (MAS) is putting in place the building blocks it needs for its recovery and future growth and yesterday placed a huge 50-jet order worth US$5.5bil (RM22bil) from Boeing of the United States, a deal that comes two weeks after AirAsia group’s dramatic RM61bil 100 aircraft/engine orders.

Between both the local airlines, they are committed to RM83bil in aircraft/engine orders in just a month, and all this to capture and ride on the air traffic boom in Asia, especially in the North Asian markets, India, Pakistan and Australia.
