Berantai RSC now goes to Vestigo

Petronas could emerge with rival bids

KUALA LUMPUR: In a new twist, Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) has appointed its wholly-owned subsidiary Vestigo Petroleum Sdn Bhd to run the Berantai risk service contract which was previously operated by SapuraKencana Petroleum Bhd (SapKen) and UK’s Petrofac.

The decision to continue the operations of the marginal oilfield under the oil giant’s in-house operations came as a surprise as analysts had initially expected the project to be progressively shut down in view of the weak oil price environment.
