Time dotCom CEO appointed CIMB Bank director

KUALA LUMPUR: TIME Dotcom Bhd director and chief executive officer Afzal Abdul Rahim (pic) has been appointed an independent director of CIMB Bank Bhd effective June 29.
 
CIMB Group Holdings Bhd chairman Datuk Seri Nazir Razak said in a statement that Afzal was a proven entrepreneur with experience in telecommunications and technology sector.\

“He will definitely bring important new perspectives to the bank board and the group as a whole,” he said.
 
Afzal has been a director and CEO of the fixed line telecommunications provider since October 2008. Prior to that, he served as CEO of The AIMS Asia Group and Global Transit International from April 2003 to October 2008. He also founded the Malaysia Internet Exchange (MyIX) in 2006.
 
Afzal holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with Electronics, specialising in acoustic wave theory, from the University of Sussex, United Kingdom.
