AmBank aims to attract RM1.8b more in fixed deposits

KUALA LUMPUR: AmBank (M) Bhd aims to attract an additional RM1.8bil in fixed deposits through its "Win an all-new 2016 Toyota Vellfire with AmBank!" campaign.

Retail Banking acting head Anthony Chin said the campaign, which runs from May 1 to Oct 31, has already garnered RM500mil in deposits.

"On a monthly basis, we have been doing about 15,000 new deposit account openings for the last couple of months," he told reporters after the launch of the campaign here today.

He said the bank's savings and current account holders as well as credit card holders are also eligible for the promotion, although for credit card holders it ends a month earlier on Sept 30.

Chin said the campaign is part of the bank's efforts to mitigate the current sluggish economic environment by encouraging customers to save money at the bank and shops using its credit cards.

He said the campaign is also aimed at driving the credit card segment and helping the bank achiev its target of adding up to 100,000 new credit cards by  year-end.

Elaborating on the campaign, he said customers stand a chance to win three Toyota Vellfire cars.

They can either deposit a minimum of RM10,000 in fixed deposit or term deposit, a minimum of RM1,000 in the current or savings account, or spend a minimum of RM80 in a single receipt with an AmBank credit card.

During the campaign period, the bank would also give away 200 Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones on a first-come first-served basis for current account and savings account holders who deposit RM488,000 and earmarked for six months.
