KUALA LUMPUR: Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) on Monday launched new touchpoints that will serve as hubs for the public to obtain information about the Klang Valley MRT project.

The company said in a statement that the touchpoints comprised two MRT information centres (MICs), a MRT information kiosk (MIK) and a MRT information truck (MIK).

Project director for the MRT Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya Line (SSP Line), Datuk Amiruddin Ma’aris, said the touchpoints were set up to enable MRT Corp to engage and educate the public on the Klang Valley MRT project, especially the SSP Line.

“These three types of touchpoints are being set up with one purpose in mind - to act as channels for members of the public to get information about the MRT project.

“Hence the term ‘touch-point’ – a place or channel for the MRT project to keep in constant touch with the public, and vice-versa,” he said during the launching ceremony at the MRT information centre in Seri Kembangan.

Previously such touchpoints were also used as channels to engage and educate the public on the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line. Following the success of the previous touchpoints, MRT Corp was now reintroducing them with the MRT SSP Line as their main focus.

The two MICs are located at The Atmosphere Business Centre in Seri Kembangan, and at Viva Residency, Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Kuala Lumpur.

Both MICs are strategically located along the SSP Line. The MICs will be operational from Monday to Friday, opening from 9am to 6pm.

The MIK is a booth which goes on a roadshow with a new location once every two months. The locations where the booth is set up are usually at shopping centres, transit hubs and other places where there is high pedestrian traffic along the SSP Line.

These location will be announced every two months on the MRT website (www.mymrt.com.my) and social media platforms (MRTMalaysia). The operating hours of the MIK will usually follow the opening hours of where it is set up.

All touchpoints are also staffed by information officers who are equipped with knowledge on the Klang Valley MRT project.
