Ringgit gains against US dollar, main currencies early Thursday


KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened firmer against the US dollar, in early Thursday trade, tracking improved oil prices.

At 9.04 am, the local unit was quoted at 4.0850/0900 against the US dollar from 4.1010/1060 at 5 pm yesterday.

Against other major currencies, the ringgit was traded mostly higher.

It rose against the Singapore dollar to 2.9649/9707 from Wednesday's close of 2.9711/9751, gained against the British pound to 6.0070/0168 from 6.0071/0153 and improved against the euro to 4.5625/5698 from 4.5706/5774 yesterday.

However, the ringgit depreciated vis-a-vis the yen to 3.7268/7331 from 3.7197/7260 on Wednesday. - Bernama
