Stoel returns to BAT Malaysia to assume MD role

KUALA LUMPUR: British American Tobacco (M) Bhd (BAT Malaysia) has appointed Hendrik Stoel as managing director effective June 1, succeeding Stefano Clini who tendered his resignation on May 3.

The country’s biggest cigarette manufacturer told Bursa Malaysia on Monday that Stoel, 48. was currently BAT area director for North Asia area.

The Dutch had been BAT Malaysia marketing director from 2010 to 2012. Subsequently, he was executive marketing director for BAT in Korea till last year.

BAT Malaysia also announced on Monday the redesignation of Datuk Chan Choon Ngai from non-executive director to independent director effective May 23.
