Bank Negara sets up Financial Markets Committee

KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara Malaysia has set up a Financial Markets Committee to review and draw up comprehensive strategies for wholesale financial markets.

In a statement on Friday, the central bank said the main objective of the committee was to broaden industry engagement and meet the diverse and complex demands of a more developed and internationally integrated economy.

“The committee shall comprise of participants/representatives from Bank Negara, financial institutions, corporations, financial service providers and other institutions or stakeholders which has prominent role or participation in the financial markets,” it said. 

It added that the panel also aims to provide a senior-level forum for market participants to meet regularly to discuss matters and potential issues and risk relating to the development of Malaysian financial market.
