Trading ideas: VS Industry, Top Glove, Poh Huat, Sentoria, Astro


KUALA LUMPUR: JF Apex Research expects VS Industry, Top Glove, Poh Huat, Sentoria, Astro and Scientex to be among the stocks to watch on Wednesday.

VS Industry bought a 12.1% stake in Seeing Machines Ltd (SEE) for £6.74mil or RM39.38mil cash. Australia-based SEE is a monitoring and sensing technology firm listed on the London Stock Exchange's Alternative Investment Market.

Top Glove is teaming up  with DHS Emergency Asia Sdn Bhd to provide clinical and specialist medical services in Malaysia.

Poh Huat’s 1QFY16 net profit soared 73% on-year to RM14.14mil due to the stronger US dollar; 

Sentoria won two contracts worth RM110mil to build apartments and houses in Selangor and Pahang.

Astro’s 4QFY16 net profit jumped 45.58% on-year following an increase in EBITDA, lower net finance cost and an increase in the share of post-tax results from investment.

Scientex’s earnings rose 79.2% and it also announced a one-for-one bonus issue.

US markets ended flat despite opening lower after bomb attacks in Brussels, Belgium. Similarly, European stocks recovered from intraday losses to close mixed after the bombing of Belgium's capital.

At Bursa Malaysia, the FBM KLCI gained 6.39 points to close at 1,724.75 following a last minute spike. 

“Following the negative news from Belgium, the KLCI could retrace downwards with immediate support at 1,710,” it said.
