Midea buys majority stake in Toshiba unit


BEIJING: Midea Group Co, China’s biggest maker of home appliances, said it is buying a majority stake in Toshiba Corp without disclosing financial details.

The two companies had signed a memorandum of understanding, the Toshiba said in a statement yesterday. Nikkei newspaper reported on Tuesday that the deal was possibly worth tens of billions of yen.
