KUALA LUMPUR: GD Express Carrier Bhd (GDEx) has inked an agreement with state-owned PT Pos Indonesia (Persero) to enhance the cross-border trade between both entities and explore other synergies.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the courier company said the business collaboration agreement was signed on Wednesday between PT Pos Indonesia president director Gilarsi W. Setijono and GDex managing director and group CEO Teong Teck Lean at PT Pos Indonesia’s headquarters in Bandung.
PT Pos Indonesia was initially known as Post Office Batavia, established in 1746 in Batavia (now Jakarta).
GDex said PT Pos Indonesia currently had an extensive network of more than 24,000 service points and was able to provide 100% coverage in big cities, almost 100% in suburban areas, and 42% in rural and remote areas in Indonesia.
Some 3,700 of the post offices are currently having online capability and a few in the big cities are equipped with mobile post facilities.
GDex said through the collaboration, PT Pos Indonesia and GDex would be able to grow together by providing better services for the community in Indonesia.
GDex is owned 23% by Japan’s largest door-to-door delivery service company, Yamato, and 11.2% by Singapore Post Ltd.
The counter closed unchanged at RM1.65 on Wednesday.
