Timber and oil palm plantation company Ta Ann Holdings Bhd is proposing a bonus issue of up to 74.15 million shares on the basis of one bonus share for every five existing shares held on the entitlement date. The proposed bonus issue is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2016 and will have a dilutive impact on the group’s earnings per share for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2016.

Building materials manufacturer and distributor Chin Hin Group Bhd, which is seeking a listing on the Main Market, received an oversubscription rate of 8.74 times for the 25.29 million shares (5% of its enlarged capital) made available for public subscription via balloting. Its tentative listing date is March 8.

Southern Steel Bhd says the Customs Department made a surprise visit to its subsidiary Southern Steel Pipe Sdn Bhd on Feb 24, taking custody of certain documents and related financial records and freezing certain bank accounts. A business daily on Monday reported that the Customs Department conducted industry-wide raids with other government departments last week, spurring the Malaysian Iron and Steel Industry Federation to lodge a complaint with the Finance Ministry on the “high handed” manner of the audit.
