KUALA LUMPUR: Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Malaysia, is aiming for sales of 12,000 vehicles in the coming financial year ending March 2017.

Chief executive officer Yang Won-Chul said the all-new Outlander Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), Triton pick-ups and the ASX compact SUV model would be the main drivers of sales during the period.

“We also aim to capture a 25% market share of the mid-size SUV segment in Malaysia with a monthly sales target of 100 units,” he told reporters at the media preview in Kuala Lumpur on Friday of the Outlander SUV, ahead of its official launch in April.

Yang said for the financial year ending this March, he expected total sales to reach about 10,200 vehicles.

Meanwhile, at the preview, Yang said the all-new Outlander SUV was targeted for both genders, aged 35 years and above.

“I am optimistic that the competitively priced SUV with a stylish outlook, seven-seater space, best premium and safety features, will win over many Malaysian families,” he added.

This year marks the company’s 11th in the Malaysian market.

The Outlander SUV comes in three colour offerings of Red Metallic, White Pearl and Grey Metallic, with an exclusive introductory on-the-road price of RM166,720 (without insurance) for bookings and registration made before May 31.

It also comes with a warranty package of five years or 100,000 km, whichever comes first.

Available in four wheel drive (4WD), the completely built-up (CBU) vehicle from Japan is powered by a 2.4-litre Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) engine.

Customers may place their bookings starting Friday. - Bernama
