Nomura: Asian banks taking a hit

PETALING JAYA: The fall in commodity prices and slower global growth has hammered the banking sector in Asia, making it the worst-performing sector in the region this month.

Nomura Research, in its latest report, said banks in Asia were the worst-performing sector in January, down 11%, underperforming the MSCI by 3%. It added that this could be driven by market concerns over growth and asset quality.
