The Plantation Industries and Commodities Ministry will consider a request by the Sarawak Oil Palm Plantation Owners Association (SOPPOA) to defer the mandatory implementation of biogas capture facilities by palm oil mills in the state.
“The ministry will consider your appeal because it is difficult for Sarawak companies to recoup their investments (in biogas plants),” Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said, adding that it would explore alternative technology that could bring down the cost of building biogas capture facilities.
