VW's Europe market share falls

FRANKFURT: Volkswagen AG's market share in Europe fell for the first time since 2007 as the German carmaker's emissions-rigging scandal deterred buyers in the final months of last year.

Volkswagen accounted for 24.8% of new cars sold in the region in 2015 compared with 25.5% in 2014, the Brussels-based European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), said yesterday. Industry-wide registrations jumped 9.2% to a six-year high of 14.2 million vehicles, outpacing the German group's 6.2% gain.
