Zafrul: Local banks’ net profit to grow 11%


Banks were among the decliners at midday

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian banks are expected to be stable in 2016 with net profit forecasted to grow 11.2% on the back of an estimated 6.9% rise in net interest income and a 9.5% increase in non-interest income, according to CIMB Group chief executive Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Aziz.

He said this in a statement on the overall 2016 banking sector/Malaysian economic outlook.
