MALACCA: Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Bhd (Bank Rakyat) is targeting to attract about 50,000 new credit cardholders to achieve total credit card billings of RM1bil by end-2016.

Director Datuk Abdul Rahman Kasim said Bank Rakyat currently had 400,000 credit cardholders with an expected total spending of RM800mil this year.

“We will roll out various programmes and attractive offers for the bank’s credit cardholders. We hope this effort would assist in boosting growth as well as Bank Rakyat’s income next year,” he told Bernama after the launch of Bank Rakyat-Hospitality Group strategic partnership in Malacca on Thursday.

Abdul Rahman said the bank was also targeting an additional 200,000 debit cardholders next year.

He said Bank Rakyat would forge a strategic partnership with Hospitality Group whereby debit-i, credit-i and ATM cardholders would be given a 10 per cent deduction for six tourist locations under the Hospitality Group’s management within a two-year period beginning on Friday.

The locations are Malacca Zoo and Night Safari, Malacca Wonderland Theme Park and Resort, Malacca Bird Park, Wildlife Theatre Malacca, Bistro 1673 and RC Hotel Malacca. - Bernama
