Impact of higher gas tariffs on Gas Malaysia still unclear

PETALING JAYA: It is still unclear how a gas tariff hike, to take place in the beginning of next year, will impact Gas Malaysia Bhd, a provider of natural and liquefied gas to businesses and residences, as further details are lacking.

The Government announced on Tuesday that the natural gas tariff for the non-power sector would be revised by 17.11% to an average RM25.53 per million metric British thermal units (mmBtus) from RM21.80 per mmBtus in Peninsular Malaysia from Jan 1.
