KUALA TERENGGANU: State-linked corporation EPIC Eastern Pacific Industrial Corporation Bhd (Epic), a service and facility provider for the oil and gas industry, has set a revenue target of RM1 billion through its subsidiaries next year despite slumping oil prices.
Group managing cirector and chief executive officer Noor Fadzil Mohamed Nor said the target can be contributed by subsidiaries such as Epic Mushtari Engineering Bhd and Tubex Sdn Bhd.
"Despite declining oil prices and the weakening ringgit, we will step up our activities in order to obtain good results for the company, as well as the state government.
"This year, despite the volatile economic situation, we managed to hit the profit target of about RM500 million," he told Bernama after handing out clothing and stationery to 80 students at the 'Epic Bhd Back to School' programme in Kuala Terengganu on Tuesday.
Fadzil said to raise revenue, Epic subsidiaries would venture into new areas in the oil and gas sector, largely focusing on downstream and maintenance activities.
On Epic's corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes, he said it comprised educational, community outreach, social and human capital development activities.
He said the Back to School programme would be extended to other districts such as Dungun, Hulu Terengganu and Setiu, and not confined to the Kuala Terengganu and Kemaman districts where Epic operates. - Bernama
