Axiata net profit up 40% to RM891mil

Axiata's Malaysia gross revenue dropped by 4.5% in the quarter mainly due to lower voice and SMS revenue. The Reuters photo shows Axiata's headquarters.

KUALA LUMPUR: Axiata Group Bhd's net profit for its third quarter ended Sept 30, 2015 jumped 40% to RM891.3mil from RM635.8mil in the same quarter last year due to a one-off gain from its Indonesian operation PT XL Axiata's tower disposal and better earnings from its Cambodian, Indian and Singapore businesses.

In a Bursa Malaysia filing on Friday, Axiata said its revenue rose 8.9% to RM5bil from RM4.6bil a year ago due to higher revenues in Dialog, Robi and Smart and the weaker Malaysian ringgit.
