BAT posts 6.6% jump in net profit to RM257mil


PETALING JAYA: British American Tobacco (M) Bhd (BAT) saw a 6.6% jump in net profit to RM256.9mil in the third quarter ended Sept 30 from the RM241.1mil recorded a year ago, boosted by higher cigarette selling prices that helped to improve margins.

Revenue, however, declined to RM1.16bil from RM1.2bil previously. The group has declared an interim dividend of 78 sen per share amounting to RM222.7mil payable on Nov 26.
