Siemens signs maintenance accord with TNB Remaco

KUALA LUMPUR: German multinational conglomerate Siemens AG has signed a long-term maintenance agreement with Tenaga Malaysia Bhd's repair and maintenance arm, TNB Repair and Maintenance Sdn Bhd (TNB Remaco), to maintain the Connaught Bridge Power Plant in Klang.

Siemens said the long-term maintenance agreement will help to ensure safe and reliable operations over the lifecycle of the Connaught Bridge Power Plant by providing predictable maintenance costs and extended warranty coverage.

The agreement is also for the supply of original equipment manufacturer spare parts and professional outage management for a term of 14 years or 99,000 equivalent operating hours, it said in a statement.

The long-term maintenance programme offered by Siemens provided flexibility in the maintenance of power plants while maximising operating efficiency and availability.

It also covered the provision of strategic spare parts for the plant's gas turbine SGT5-4000F, steam turbine SST5-3000 and generator, SGen5-2000H, it added.

"With this newly signed long-term maintenance agreement, we will continue to support and ensure the optimal performance and maximise the lifecycle assets of the power plant," Siemens Malaysia president and chief executive officer Prakash Chandran was quoted as saying in the statement.

The agreement is Siemens' second long-term maintenance pact signed with TNB following the first one that was signed in 2013 for the service and maintenance of turbines at the TNB Prai combined cycle power plant for a period of up to 20 years or equivalent to 100,000 equivalent operating hours. - Bernama
