All eyes on IHH earnings

An analyst says that excluding the impact of the depreciation of the lira on IHH’s Turkey unit, which operates the Acibadem chain of hospitals, revenue has edged up 15 to RM736.6mil, supported by an increase in in-patient volumes and revenue per in-patient. — Bernama.

The group, which is Asia’s largest hospital operator, will release its second-quarter results this week and observers opine that the weak lira, coupled with the strong US dollar in which a large sum of its debts are denominated, poses a double whammy for IHH.

Turkey’s lira has lost 26% against the US dollar so far this year and is the second-worst performing emerging-market currency after Brazil’s real.
