Fairchild still in Bucheon


WE refer to the articles headlined “Fairchild to sell Penang factory, 1,000 set to lose jobs (The Star, July 27) and “Fairchild’s closure won’t hurt local semiconductor industry” (The Star, July 28).

Fairchild Semiconductor International Inc has clarified that it is only closing the remaining five-inch wafer fabrication lines in Bucheon, South Korea, and is not ceasing operations there.
