KUALA LUMPUR: Maybank Investment Bank (Maybank IB) receives the 'Best Investment Bank' in Malaysia award at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2015 as it boosted its revenues in a period when other banks fell back, according to Euromoney.
In a joint statement Euromoney said on Wednesday that the investment bank had strong showings particularly in Equity Capital Markets (ECM) and debt capital markets that were backed up by a decent performance in merger and acquisition.
Euromoney’s Asia Awards are seen as the benchmark for firms in the financial services industry in the region.
Recently, Maybank IB was also named the ‘Best Domestic Equity House’ in Malaysia at the Asiamoney’s Best Domestic Bank Awards due to its improvement in market share of primary ECM activity and its deals that doubled.
“The fact that it doubled its roster of deals over the period, to 14, while also increasing its market share to 17% from 11.5% are some of the key reasons for naming the investment bank the Best Domestic Equity House in Malaysia,” Asiamoney said.
Maybank IB chief executive officer John Chong said that the awards received by the investment bank is a reflection of the bank’s long-term growth from building sustainable relationships with its clients by delivering the best for them.
