KUALA LUMPUR: Former Malaysia Airlines managing director and chief executive officer Ahmad Jauhari Yahya and former Economic Planning Unit (EPU) director-general Raja Datuk Zaharaton Raja Zainal Abidin have joined Taliworks Corp Bhd as independent, non-executive directors.
Taliworks is involved in a range of activities, including water and waste-related businesses. Among others, it holds the operation and maintenance contract for Sungai Selangor Water Treatment Works Phase 1 that supplies to large parts of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
Its executive director Lim Yew Boon said in a statement that Ahmad Jauhari and Raja Zaharaton “are both extremely qualified and will bring added value to the group, allowing us to maximise our effectiveness in the infrastructure sectors that Taliworks is currently involved in and pursuing.”
Ahmad Jauhari, appointed group CEO of Malaysia Airlines in September 2011, resigned in April this year but remains a director.
He started off his career with Esso Malaysia Bhd (1977-1979). In 1994, he joined Malakoff Bhd, helming it to become Malaysia’s leading independent power producer before he retired in 2010.
Raja Zaharaton, meanwhile, has served the Government in various capacities for 34 years from 1971 to 2005. On June 24, 2014 she was appointed as chairman of Global Maritime Ventures Bhd, a subsidiary of Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd.
She also currently sits on the board of Big Tree Outdoor Sdn Bhd and Primeworks Studios Sdn Bhd, wholly owned subsidiaries of Media Prima Bhd.
The company also announced a second interim single tier dividend of 5 sen per ordinary share in respect of the financial year ending Dec 31, 2015, which will be paid on July 31.
Taliworks rose 2 sen to close at RM3.00 on Thursday.
