Celcom Axiata supports affordable packages strategy

KUALA LUMPUR: Celcom Axiata Bhd has come out in full support of the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia’s objective to offer more affordable packages for all Malaysians to enjoy.

Celcom Axiata chief executive officer Datuk Seri Shazalli Ramly said on Friday the company has introduced several initiatives over the past one month comprising of affordably-prices plans for new and existing customers.

The company said this initiative backs up the call from Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek for telcos to reduce prices to its customers.

“One such package is Xpax, Celcom’s main prepaid brand for youth that has been enhanced for the New Internet of Xpax,” it added.

Celcom noted customers would have access to non-stop Internet experience and can carry forward their unused internet on the New Internet of Xpax, as the company is the first telco in the country to offer the carry-forward feature.

It said other benefits on the new packages includes free high speed internet of 15 hours per month, access to the most affordable internet plans from as low as 90sen per day with free Wi-Fi, for customers on the go at 4GLTE speeds.

In addition to this, the company has also reduced the price of the basic Internet plan to RM25, from RM28 with a quota of 1GB monthly.

Another package the company has introduced is the “First basic 38 plan”, which is for customers who manage SMEs and businesses as it provides an edge with its Internet offerings.

With the implementation of the goods and services tax (GST), the company said it is giving an additional value, which is higher than 6% tax in the form of free minutes and text messages to its customers who reload RM5 and above.
