KUALA LUMPUR: Volkswagen Group Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a unit of Volkswagen AG, will open two more technical service centres this year to strengthen its after-sales services.
Volkswagen Malaysia managing director Armin Keller said the centres would be opened in Puchong and Batu Caves.
The first centre was opened in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur.
Keller said the centres would be equipped with the first-of-its-kind state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment in Malaysia and staffed by team of experts under the guidance of Volkswagen-certified master engineers.
“This year we want to stabilise the network, consolidate and be very focussed on services,” Keller told Bernama.
The centres will operate as a specialist-care facility for repair and after-sales service capable of dealing with a wide range of issues quickly and effectively.
Keller said although all the centres were in the Klang Valley, the team could fly to serve outstation cases.
“The group has 41 sales, service and spare parts centres now in Malaysia with the latest in Melaka, Langkawi and Taiping, to support normal servicing.
“We have a stand-by 17 Volkswagen German experts in Malaysia to assist in the enhancement of the after-sales service,” he said.
Nationwide, he said, the overall capacity at Volkswagen service centres has also received a boost, with the creation of an additional 44 work bays across the country. — Bernama
"A total of 97 technicians have been trained since December 2014, and a further 78 service staff have been hired.
"Together, these enhancements have led to a significant reduction in waiting time for service appointments, from 10 days to an average of only two days," said Keller.
Keller said Volkswagen sold 9,000 units in Malaysia last year and the company was optimistic to at least repeat the figure.
"The sales will come along while we focus on strengthening our services here," said Keller.
He also hinted at the introduction of a "special edition Volkswagen Jetta" in May.
The group launched a locally-assembled Jetta Sedan last year, its fourth model after the Passat, Polo Sedan, and Polo 1.6, that underwent local assembly in Malaysia via the DRB-Hicom factory in Pekan, Pahang.— Bernama
