MAI expects higher vehicle sales this month

Madani: ‘Normally, buyers would hold back but sales have been good this first quarter.’

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) expects total industry volume (TIV) to hit 55,000 units this month.

As the January and February TIVs were 51,000 units and 52,000, respectively, chief executive officer Mohamad Madani Sahari said it was possible to hit 55,000 units in March despite concerns on the goods and services tax (GST) that will be implemented on April 1.
