Perak Corp net profit up 4.78% to RM6.35mil

KUALA LUMPUR: Perak Corporation Bhd's net profit for its fourth quarter ended Dec 31, 2014 rose 4.78% to RM6.35mil from RM6.06mil a year ago.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia on Friday, the group said its revenue for the period was down 21.1% to RM30.05mil from RM38.13mil a year ago.

Earnings per share for the period stood at 6.36 sen from 6.07 sen a year ago.

For its full year, its net profit rose 47.7% to RM39.12mil from RM26.47mil a year ago while revenue rose 26.7% to RM169.7mil from RM133.98mil a year ago.

The group said its revenue for the quarter decreased due to some land sales from its township development segments.

Moving forward, the group said it expects to achieve satisfactory results for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2014.

"Although infrastructure segment is expecting growth of its cargo throughput during the year, but sales of its industrial land is expected to be lower as it has exhausted its landbank at Lumut Port Industrial Park.

"Business activities at Bandar Meru Raya are expected to increase during the year and the group is embarking on a long-term strategy for its township development segment, which is expected to result in lower land sales in the short and immediate term," it said.
