MPI Q2 profit soars to RM24mil

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd’s (MPI) net profit for the second quarter ended Dec 31, 2014 of its financial year ending June 30, 2015 (FY15) tripled to RM24.06mil from RM8.09mil in the same period a year ago on the back of revenues rising by 6.9% to RM338.29mil.

The technology company said in its Bursa Malaysia note that the higher profit was due to the higher revenue in the smartphone sector, strengthening US dollar and lower material costs on the continued fall in commodity prices.
