KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's inflation rate rose 2.7% in December 2014, lower than economists' expectations of 2.8% as soaring domestic food prices from the worst flood in decades offset the effects of falling fuel
prices.

The Statistics Department said on Wednesday that when compared with November, the Consumer Price Index, decreased by 0.1%.

For 2014, the inflation rate increased by 3.2% from 2013 driven by alcoholic beverages & tobacco, transport , restaurants & hotels, housing, water, electricity, gas & other fuels and food & non-alcoholic beverages.
