Inflation to hit 4% in 2015, weigh on consumption: AllianceDBS Research

According to AllianceDBS Research, price pressures are likely to weigh on domestic growth next year, with private consumption growth expected to be slower at 5.7% compared to the 2014 estimate of 6.6%.

KUALA LUMPUR: Following the latest data showing inflation in Malaysia hitting 3% in November from 2.8% the month before, AllianceDBS Research is predicting that the consumer price index will hit 4% in 2015.

It pointed to the implementation of the GST in April 2015 as a factor, but said managed float pump prices might mitigate inflation in the short run, what with crude oil prices currently hitting lows.
