Falling crude oil prices diminishes CPO appeal as alternative fuel


CHEAPER crude oil prices in the international market is sapping demand for biodiesel made of blended edible oils. While mandated usage is rising at home on Government support, overcapacity issues continue to weigh on the industry.

Across the country, 2.7 million tonnes of biofuel blending capacity have been set up over the years at a whopping cost of RM2.2bil, according to the Malaysian Biodiesel Association (MBA).
