CIMB unit ventures into Indonesia’s retail sector

PETALING JAYA: CIMB Private Equity (CIMB PE) has acquired a 10% stake in PT Modern Internasional Tbk (MDRN), the retail operator and owner of the 7-Eleven convenience store franchise in Indonesia, for about US$25mil (RM81.8mil).

In a statement yesterday, it said that the investment was made via a subscription of newly issued shares that represented 10% of the existing share capital of MDRN.
