Maybank gets banking licence to open branch office in Myanmar

KUALA LUMPUR: The Central Bank of Myanmar has granted Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) a banking licence to open a branch office in the country, which will help the banking group further strengthen its regional footprint in Asean.

Maybank, the fourth largest bank by assets in Asean, said on Wednesday the granting of the licence was part of a move to liberalise the banking sector in the country.
